We bought these at $32 and used them for a trip to Hawaii. Didn't have any issues on the 4 separate legs, including the hop from Oahu to Maui.

They've held up so far. Wonder how this $24 deal compares.

Is this allowed under-seat on European airlines?

I have this backpack. The material is cheap and thin; I would say the photos are pretty misleading but you get what you paid for.

But it won't disintegrate or anything; been using it a few months as a work laptop and it's fine

I have this one in large: https://a.co/d/fi8HuEz.

Between my husband and I, we each took a small hardshell carry-on and each took this backpack and were good on a 2 week trip to Spain, carrying enough clothing for rain in Barcelona and 75 degrees temps in Sevilla. We were allowed to use these as our under seat bags on Ryanair and Air Europa, and got a bit lucky that we didn't have to check the Quince 20" carry-ons we had, in addition to the backpacks.

I sound shilly, but I honestly can't imagine traveling without my Matein bag anymore, and have told so many people about it.

If you look at the review photos most of the complaints have photos of the green one. I'm hoping the black one has better construction.

FWIW, I got the 27L version last year and with it full but nowhere near maxed out, it fit easily under the seat in front of me with room for my feet on the sides. I considered the 40L bag but was afraid it would completely fill the under seat area, and I knew I'd be miserable if I couldn't straighten my legs for an entire flight. I also figured I could compress the 27L into the "personal item" dimensions of most airlines if needed, which wouldn't be possible with a 40L bag.
Technically you only have to have it under the seat in front of you during take-off and landing. If I want to really stretch out, I'll pull my backpack out and put it between my legs so I can use the whole space under the seat to stretch into. As a bonus, your stuff is easier to access, especially if you have the tray table down.

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it had a USB C connection. No reason any bags in 2025 should have a USB A connection, you basically are losing any fast charging ability from your charger.
