I actually ordered two of these but then luckily decided to check camelcamelcamel to make sure it was, in fact, a good deal, and ended up cancelling the order. These have been $7.99 or lower at least a dozen times in the last year, with an all time low of $6.78 in Feb of this year and they were around $7 just last month. The price seems to regularly fluctuate between about $6.75-$10 so I would say this is an average deal and fine if you actually need this item right now. But there's a good chance you can save a buck or more if you keep an eye on it and but once it goes below $7.
Also worth noting that if you read through the previous front page post that you linked, it has many comments of people posting links to other similar/arguably better versions of the same product from other sellers for $6-7. Unfortunately something making the front page on this site no longer means anything with respect to the quality of a given deal at all
