How are these in modern day printing? I have an old 3 that needs replacing at this point. Are Creality refurbs any good, and do you have any return support if it doesn't work?

This is a good printer. I have 500+ hours on mine. I did eventually update to a Bambu, but I still have this one sitting next to the Bambu and it's a workhorse. Not going to compare to bambu, but I paid over a grand for that. Use glue with the KE and print the Creality PETG $12.99 rolls from Amazon and you will love it.

Is the flashforge at $100 more worth it over this? New vs refurb. Etc. Pretty new to the 3d printing scene.

Good deal if you get a good example. With Creality refurbs but are possible. I personally bought 1 Creality "for parts" printer and got a never opened, new in box, printer. Stories from others are far less lucky.

This vs the FF 5M: The 5M has more potential. It's faster and can be enclosed rather reasonably though of enclosure is your plan perhaps get the Elegoo Centauri Carbon.
If I knew for a fact $135 would buy a good return unit and you just wanted to do PLA, then I might say this is worth the savings. If nothing else, you might decide you want to skip the FF 5M and go right to a better enclosed printer (5M pro, Elegoo, K1 max etc). In a sense, the advantage to this is it's cheaper to upgrade if you want to.

I bought one of these about a year ago for around 180 and it has been great. Its 500mm/s so it matches the speed of a Bambu A1 and has autoleveling along with Klipper. It can easily be rooted and run Fluidd and Octoeverywhere.

I just wish it had an AMS equivalent, those prints looks so awesome in multicolor. Great feedback, though, thanks!

AMS is cool. I also have a Bambu A1 combo and use the KE for all my long single color prints. I just got a Wham.Bam PEX plate for the KE and it has been amazing.
