I have both. It's a totally different type of flame than the TS8000, which although a far more powerful flame, it's far more focused than the ThermoMaven's flame, which can adjust from a lumbering wide flame to a very widespread flame with more 'volume' and coverage than the TS8000.
Two different 'torches' for two different purposes, as a user may not need or want the focus/intensity of the far more costly TS8000.

Has anyone tried this for steak searing?
TBTEEK Sous Vide Propane torch has about 4x more reviews with similar rating so I just bought one of those for $25 instead of this one due to their much more extensive and consistent history of sales and feedback. Both are cheap Chinese knockoffs of something like a Searzall torch, but I figure the one with significantly more sales and feedback is probably the safer way to go for only $5 more. Amazon returns are easy either way so if the $20 one fails and you have to return or exchange it its not hard to do.
FYI you're not supposed to actually burn weeds with a weed burning torch. The flame isn't supposed to touch the plant, just hold it close for 10 seconds or so. It ruptures the cells inside the plant, turns brown, dies.

The igniter on this thing is utter garbage. Stopped working after a couple of uses. I have to use a lighter to get it working. Spend the extra $5 and get a Benzomstic Utility Torch Kit with 14.1 oz. Propane Gas Cylinder.

You would need something like this. To save your back from bending over constantly.
It works but IMHO it uses too much propane and takes too long to burn down to the roots. As I have that.
I just bend over and pull weed out.
Though that is good for firepits and burning spider webs in higher places.
