Buying an Intel Mac today for anything but running windows is a waste of money
That's… not true lol. I use this exact machine at work and it lasts the entire work day easily.

Absolute beast of a machine still. I have the M1 Pro with the same specs and it's killer.

I got one of these a few weeks ago. It looks to me that the device is basically new. Battery health 100% and 2 charge cycles.
it's pretty big and heavy but quite fast.

Super specs but has terrible battery life, something to keep in mind.
Still rocking one of these from when they first came out. Machine still screams and battery is fantastic after 5+ years.

How does M1 Max work compare to latest M4 at similar price point?

I also have this machine except the 2tb version and I think it's funny that anyone would think the battery like is "terrible." Maybe compared to a MB air or something but I do 4K video editing on battery and get like 10 hours. This is a workstation, I think that's pretty good. If I was just doing office work or browsing, it would last all day. I bought mine in 2021 and the battery is at 90% health. It's. A great machine and well worth it at this price.

M1 Max wins on memory bandwidth and gpu performance and loses everywhere else by a bit. For example, single core performance is 58% better on the M4. The big difference is the nanometer process = heat/battery life. 3nm on M4 and 5nm on M1

If you're looking at a used 16", backmarket has the 2019 16" for $350 and it is still very capable. Certainly not as powerful as the newer models, but it still receives updates and can easily run video processing. Just food for thought. And a pretty amazing deal for $350.

Disagree on battery as well. Have the same config and still easily get a full day out of it running normal workload.

Currently running a base M1 Pro for the last 3 years. Do you still use an MBP M1 Max or did you upgrade to a newer chip?

I also dont agree with this. Typing from the machine, easily last 2 -3 days for me, with normal work from 9-5. Atleast 1 full day with heavy work like video editing or watching movies the whole day
