Where has Backblaze indicated that HAMR is helping Seagate's reliability? They do show Seagate's AFR dropping, however I don't recall seeing any HAMR models in the stats they've released.
I'm not sure I agree with your last point. If they gave it the same workload rating as their high end models, it would likely cannibalize the sales of the more expensive ones. And for people getting worked up about the workload rating, I just want to point out that WD doesn't even give these specs for their Blue line (which is the most comparable to the Barracuda).

I'm not sure I agree with your last point. If they gave it the same workload rating as their high end models, it would likely cannibalize the sales of the more expensive ones. Same here, just bought 2 of the 18tb shuckables exos for $400. 48tb for $450 instead of 36tb for $400 is very tempting, but I did some research (i.e. googling/redditing) and the Barracudas are very strongly recommended to NOT be used as anything but cold storage because of their comically low rated days/year usage of 100. If you're putting this in a media server or something - like I am - you're going to have a bad time, according to seagate.
I don't really know what the usecase of 24tb barracuda low-use drives is? Seems odd.
