Lowe's had it on sale for $30 a month ago, not sure if that price will come back though

I've tried this with DIY plumbing. It will melt solder to sweat copper with propane but takes forever and the flame is long even on its shortest setting, so if you're in a relatively tight space, it's clunky.

Lastly, the width of the barrel is something like 1/2" so you're sending out a ton of propane to stay lit. It took a little under 1 full tank of the thinner style propane to heat the copper enough for the solder to adhere (and also sloppily burned the copper). I don't know if I'll ever use this ever again for plumbing, next time opting for an actual plumbing torch.

I don't know what other uses there for this thing are or would be - maybe it would work well in the kitchen for cooking: searing rare steaks or caramelizing sugar on crème brûlée. Or woodworking if you need a burnt finish "Shou Sugi ban".

I used this for my DIY plumbing project with a yellow container (whatever it is, not mapp) and it worked fine... better than the nozzles withthe flame because it was easier to maneuver.

Small bolts maybe. CRC Freeze Off and Kroil are your best bets short of oxy acetylene. I have this firepoint and like it, but that's not what it's for.

I dont even bother with blow torches anymore for mechanic work. i've been using an induction heater and haven't looked back. makes all my suspension work almost easy. Dont have to deal with bad smells from kroil and open flames.
