This seems like a really good deal. I'm in the market for a tool combo set thats mainly for around the house DIY stuff. I want something that will last long. I was considering Milwaukee 3692-22ct model. Any suggestions/recommendations between these two? I don't mind waiting for a good deal.

Note that this is not the Atomic impact driver, just the Drill is Atomic. The Atomic impact driver is super short front to back.

The impact driver is the DCF809. I have one and it is badged Atomic. It isn't as compact and powerful as the newer DCF850 Atomic, sure, but it is definitely in the Atomic line:

No need to dig: the Atomic line means compact brushless just like the XR line means performance brushless. All Atomic cordless power tools are brushless… even the Atomic LED tape measure. Wink

My first set was the earlier version of this Atomic set from Black Friday 2022: DCD709 drill/driver and DCF809 impact driver with bag, charger, and 2x 1.5AH batteries (some may have been 1.3AH according to the ad).

It was $150 then but they updated the kit with a shorter DCD794 drill and prices have gone up a lot since 2022 so I we might never see that price again. Not sure I prefer the single 2AH battery though. You might be able to get it with a second battery by waiting but it's a good start regardless.

I also have the monster DCD998 XR PowerDetect drill but I've drilled exactly one hole with it because I keep reaching for my smaller DCD709 Atomic instead… including last night when I needed to drill into a Sega Dreamcast (DCHDMI/DCDigital installation). The DCD794 in this kit is even shorter so I imagine it will be that much better for normal drilling. If I were drilling larger holes in wood (spade bits, hole saws) or concrete/brick (masonry bits for a hammer drill) I'd reach for the bigger one but the Atomic is more appropriate for almost everything.

driver from the lowe's deal isn't an atomic (smaller). if the extra battery is worth more to you than the smaller size, go for it

Lowes driver is DCF840B and Home Depot is DCF809B. Both comes with DCB203 batteries.

You shouldn't have to dig. We're here to help you out. This is a really good deal. Haven't seen one like this in ages. Atomic is like the bomb. That's why the name starts with A. And it's brushless, no cleaning necessary. Imagine buying a tool and you have to clean it? Yuck. If I were you, I'd buy 2. Keep one in the house, one in the car.
