Fake 4k, stretched 2k
Having Starvis 2 doesn't mean the camera is true 4k, it needs processing power to handle the bandwidth, and this one doesn't have it. It is a decent 2k camera if you looks at it that way, but any VIOFO including 119 has better video. With that insurance and police care less about you capturing license plates, nobody will be using your video to search for hit and run driver unless there is a very major injury.

So this makes dash cam keep recording when engine is off? Will it drain car battery quick?
The hardwire kit has a voltage-based shutoff switch. You can select at which voltage of the battery the dashcam will stop recording to save your car battery from dying.

Did anyone know for things like this, if they have a SD card, does this automatically send data to the cloud? Let's say someone breaks into the car, dies the data go to the cloud or is it left on the SD card in the device. Cause if they steal the device, and it doesn't upload, I'm cooked and it really didn't help.

Not a single typical dash cam can do that as far as I'm aware. You need an internet source running non-stop, and you are talking about high bandwidth and upload speed for 4k video files, fake 4k or not. Also, WiFi mode will not allow recording. If need something constant you will have to get a 4G LTE camera with a battery like Arlo Go 2. Professional LTE dash cams do exit but those come with subscription fees. Google fleet dash cams.

They sell a harness that wires into the cars fuses and enables parking mode.

I wish they'd include hardwire kits instead of a crappy SD card. I can't imagine having my dashcam plugged into a USB port or cigarette lighter.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into getting one and i thought to myself, what about if someone breaks in the car?!? I don't get to have footage of it if they take my cam with them of ot doesnt sne dthings to a cloud or something. That was my only thought process behind it. But I guess its still great for when people try insurance fraud and crap like that. I'm obsessed with the dashcam sub reddit now lol

Question everyone, has anyone tried or have installed/ connected dash cams alternatively to either hardwiring or cigarette lighter? I recently heard that some are able to take power from rearview mirror? Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to put out a warning about this camera. I purchased one in August of 2023, and today, it stopped showing live video, and recordings were blank. I contacted Rove, and they said it has reached it's life cycle, and there was nothing they would do. I was happy while it worked, and to me, it should have lasted longer. I have cheap knock-offs that are 5-7 years old and still working. Anyway, I'm just sharing my experience with this camera.

2-year lifecycle seems very short for any electronic device.
I have one of the dashcams that's been running for at least 7 years now. Still works as it should.
On the other hand, one of the newer cameras has been giving me false emergency recording alerts constantly. I've contacted support, upgraded firmware, switched sensitivity to low and nothing helps.
