2qt is basically for 1 person or 2 if you don't eat a lot. I use a 5qt with the gf and get about 5 servings. There are tons of great slow cooker meals. I enjoy tossing in corned beef on low for 9-10 hours with broth covering it (you can use water) and it comes out great. To clean you fill it with water add some soap and keep it on warm for 10-20min covered and everything that was going to be scrubbed easily wipes away. You can buy liners but $ and sometimes reviews say it adds an unpleasant taste
