I have the same question. I'm thinking of getting this to learn Linux though, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if malware is embedded in BIOS instead of OS. Any insight is appreciated.

Would not recommend for emulation, since the best part of emulation on PC is rendering at high resolution which requires more GPU power

Wiiu at 4k for example is eye candy on my 4070

From what I have seen online, those issues have been resolved but, IMO, it does not matter. I would not want to purchase it and find out in a few months that it was discovered again. Embedded malware is inexcusable and permanently kills the brand when there are many other mini PC brands offering similar specs for similar prices.

Just my two cents, but this is not a great deal. This GPU is a bit underpowered. However, this is better than an n150, especially if you're looking to do more than just browse the web. This should handle some light gaming.

There are deals that get close to this in price but don't have 7 year old APUs in them

Why is this POS company being promoted on this site? Slickdeals doesn't give a damn about the people using their site do they?

Valid question and concerns, you shouldn't purchase, nobody should. It's irresponsible to promote the brand when they're known to be dubious.

Please point out to us the place where this company has hurt you. Slickdeals is not biased, nor are they promoting this brand. We're all just posting considerable deals here.
The repetitive complaint about them being a "POS company" and malware is getting boring, old, and redundant now. A series of their desktops had that issue, and the people were right to call them out for it. However, what's not right is painting all their products with that same brush. Every manufacturer has some issues with their products now and then; Lenovo with their hinges, esp on their previous IdeaPad Flex lineup, ASUS fiasco, and malware with Ace Magic here, and so on. However, all these problems were old and have then been fixed, but people like you, or certain others, feel the need to comment the same thing on every thread.
Ace Magic included a script that wasn't fully compliant with Windows standards, which led to such "malware" detections. However, after being whitelisted, Windows Defender now confirms that there are no issues.

Exactly! Once a brand, especially one without a long history of previously established trust like AceMagic, has their reputation ruined by pre-installed malware, it takes a long time to regain that trust; if they are worthy of reassessment. There is really no reason to trust AceMagic again. They don't offer anything unique or groundbreaking. The hardware included is junk, terrible RAM, NVMe heatsinks held with weak adhesive and rubber bands, and minimal cooling.

The only hole they fill in the market is for people who want a cheap computer and don't mind rolling the dice with their account security and also don't mind replacing the whole system when it eventually burns itself out, like the AceMagic AD08 I have in right now with an i9 that burned out its mobo just idling one day after less than a year of use. So it's weird to see people defending them so emotionally.

Why are you defending this company, they're nothing special? We're not talking about an "issue with a product". Shipping PC's with data mining malware is exponentially more harmful than selling hardware with faulty hinges, that's not a valid comparison. A more valid comparison would be Chinese companies shipping vulnerable webcams or IoT devices that allow RAT's to be deployed on your network due to their lack of encryption, weak authentication and old exploited firmware.

I'll continue warning those that don't know the history of this company of what they could be in for as not everyone knows the potential risks. Consumers need to look out for each other.

I am not defending them, but just trying to be a voice of reason. I am not a staff member or a moderator who would be getting paid to defend someone; I am just another member like you who has an interest in tech, just a bit too much.
If your claims were STILL true, then the US wouldn't even be allowing these brands to be sold or shipped in the first place, let alone slickdeals. Take HUAWEI, for example; they got banned years ago and are still banned in the US to this day. The things you talked about might have affected some of their products, but not every single product by them has this issue. If that were the case, it would be all over tech articles and pages.
