JomaShop is not an authorized Maui Jim reseller. They might be legit or maybe grey market. Even if legit, they aren't backed by Maui Jim's warranty. Looking at Maui Jim's webpage, there is one noticeable difference that suggests to me that JomaShop is swap meet louie [youtube.com], and that is the Maui Jim logo embedded [mauijim.com] on the lens.

As for Maui Jim, get the real thing (from an authorized reseller) and you won't regret it.

I gifted myself my first pair of Maui Jim's (Big Kahuna) after having LASIK in 1999. The $350 sunglasses were a drop in the bucket after spending $3800 on LASIK. Back then, my ride to and from work was towards the sun, and these made the drive much easier. No squinting, no pulling down sunshades... just drive towards the sun. Decades have passed and the lenses are still flawless. Even the etched-in Maui Jim logo on the lens looks new. The frame would be perfect if the embedded/glued Maui Jim logos on the arms (near the ear) didn't fall off. I did contact Maui Jim about nose pads. They shipped me replacement nose pads free of charge, no questions asked other than the model number.

Fast forward to around 2010. I coaxed my wife into buying a pair. We picked them up at Costco for $99. She didn't like them. We bought the same model at an authorized reseller for $239, and looking at the sun was noticeably different. Needless to say, we returned the Costco pair.

Throughout the 2010s, I was able to score lots of different designer sunglasses between 2010 and 2018 with casino points from the Hard Rock Tampa. With that said, I have three different models of Maui Jims for myself (forward thinking, I made sure they were RX-able models). I also managed to get many sunglasses for my wife (Oakley, Revo, Ray-Ban, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, etc).

Over the years, my eyes have regressed a bit and need a prescription lens. I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses from Costco. They were terrible in comparison. So bad that I would wear my regular glasses and put my Big Kahunas over top while driving. A year later, I took one of the RX frames to an authorized Maui Jim reseller with my script. They sent off the frames to Maui Jim and had real Maui Jim prescription lenses put in. The lenses cost $550; if I were to buy the same frames, it would have added another $350. I regret not paying an additional $50 for mirrored lenses (for the cool factor). Maybe next time. Regardless, they were (and still are three years later) worth every penny. Note: Costco said they could put prescription sunglasses into the Maui Jim frames, but they would not be authentic Maui Jim lenses.

In short, get the real thing and you won't be disappointed. Get fake stuff, no promises.

Joma is a known gray market retail who buys their stuff in bulk and resell at a slight discount. They are heavily promoted here on SD and any deal, good or not, instantly makes front page.

I had bad experience with Joma in the past and so did many others. The reason you don't see many people complain, is because any critical post towards Joma gets TD'd to obilivion and eventually compressed into "most users find this not useful" and hidden away. Or removed for "policy violation" alltogether.

My issues with them are:
  1. Absence (not even lack) of customer service and full disregard for a customer.
  2. No post-sale ssupport
  3. They can easily ship a previous return when sold as new, even if the return had obvious signs of usage.
  4. If you try to return they would blame all issues on you and refuse the return multiple times
  5. Even if they finally approve the return, they make you pay for the return fee and charge restocking fee.
  6. All that, if your voicemail gets eventually returned before your return period expires.
  7. None of the stuff they sell is covered by manufacturer warranty but if you try to use what they call a warranty, they typically just hold on to your repair, the ship it back to you, scratched or damaged.
When I see a decent price for an item from Joma, I usually try to find another gray market dealer (Watchmaxx, Ashford, etc), and just PM joma price which most of them gladly do. or just check in Costco. Often times, Costco price is not that far offm, but you feel much better, knowing you have Costco care behind your purchase!

I had these in blue, hated them.Super flimsy, as its all plastic. Wore them to the beach once, the lenses got scratched to high hell since, well, they are plastic. Costs way too much to fix only for it to happen again.I love Maui Jim sunglasses, as I have 4 pairs, but never buy the plastic lenses.
These are absolutely the worst sunglasses to buy. I love Maui Jim have a few pair but breakwall and sugar Beach are the cheapest and flimsiest they make by a long shot. Trust me do not buy these.
