The better you can cover the flat top surface, the better. I use a soft cover, this hard cover, and a silicon mat. I haven't had any rusting issues on the cooking surface and left mine outside all winter.

I have this cover. It isn't great. It's kind of flimsy and wobbly, and will rust if scratched. That said, it does its job of covering the griddle and it's much cheaper than the "standard" Blackstone lid. Just something to consider.

false advertisement, the grill is clearly steel and not stone, blackstone should be sued for deceptive marketing.

I have a silicone mat. Problem is when you season it and cover with the mat the oil sticks to the mat. I want to switch to the hard cover because I keep my blackstone indoors.
