This is definitely a good deal but won't make for an enjoyable backpacking trip. The pack weighs 6.5 pounds with nothing in it. Many people strive for a base weight (everything but consumables) of just 10 pounds. 70 liters is grossly unnecessary for anything less than a week in the backcountry. If you buy too much volume, you'll fill it with unnecessary stuff (weight). You deserve better.

I bought a pair of trekking poles (the best seller on Amazon). $20, but I have brought them to multiple 14ers. I even met a guy with the same poles on the peak of a 14er. These things are not supposed to be that expensive.

The problem with this backpack is the weight. It's 6.5 lbs before you put a thing in it.

I don't think hiking is meant for wussies like you. You should carry < 30 liters backpack instead. Oh wait, maybe 30 liters is too heavy. I recommend < 20 liters.

Agreed. My hardcore backpacking days are over. But I used to do 3, 4, 5 days with a ~45L UL pack. Barely enough, with stuff strapped high and low on the exterior, and the pack was worn to the point of failure after a few years. But part of the experience was maximizing a minimalist setup. Just added to the excitement. Good times.
