I don't trust the longevity of this bag, but for the price it's hard to beat

I've been using the same exact bag for four years with my son in Boy Scout and it's been great.

This is definitely a good deal but won't make for an enjoyable backpacking trip. The pack weighs 6.5 pounds with nothing in it. Many people strive for a base weight (everything but consumables) of just 10 pounds. 70 liters is grossly unnecessary for anything less than a week in the backcountry. If you buy too much volume, you'll fill it with unnecessary stuff (weight). You deserve better.

I bought a pair of trekking poles (the best seller on Amazon). $20, but I have brought them to multiple 14ers. I even met a guy with the same poles on the peak of a 14er. These things are not supposed to be that expensive.

The problem with this backpack is the weight. It's 6.5 lbs before you put a thing in it.

I don't think hiking is meant for wussies like you. You should carry < 30 liters backpack instead. Oh wait, maybe 30 liters is too heavy. I recommend < 20 liters.

Agreed. My hardcore backpacking days are over. But I used to do 3, 4, 5 days with a ~45L UL pack. Barely enough, with stuff strapped high and low on the exterior, and the pack was worn to the point of failure after a few years. But part of the experience was maximizing a minimalist setup. Just added to the excitement. Good times.
