It is banned because it isn't fair. So if you don't want to cheat, yes it matters
Actually, if you did the research on this you would know it's not that simple. The MOD-15 was Joola response to their first gen 3 being banned and it was legal (and technically still legal until July 15), until USAP decided it wasn't (by the way, do you even know why it was made illegal off the top of your head??). Furthermore, the USAP may be the most known association in pickleball in this country, but it's not the only one. There are other ones worldwide, and the MOD-15 is legal in all of them except the USAP. So technically, it is fair and legal to play with this paddle for every game and tournament except in an official USAP tournament after July 15. If you want to be a Karen and call it cheating, be my guest, pretty sure I will never play with you or in a USAP tournament either.

BTW, it's actually becoming a political thing with Joola and the USAP. many of the top players are getting fed up with the USAP because they are not being consistent about their restrictions. How do you go from deciding it is legal to one day deciding it is not? Many top players are threatening to leave the USAP circuits.

I seriously doubt this will be my everyday paddle since it doesn't suit my play style. However, for $50, I will add to my collection, and use it occasionally to test out different play styles against different opponents on different days. It's OK if you don't agree. You didn't really get a chance anyways since it sold out in less than 1 hour.

By the way, I already received my paddle and can't wait to try out it soon.

Pickleball is one of those fads that was coming up that I can't wait for it to die out quickly. City wasting tax dollars on this kind of nonsense that 10 people use and no one will be using in a few years.
It's fading now, but not fast. Our Parks and Rec painted pickleball lines on the tennis courts, and it was very popular during covid and the lock downs. Now when I drive by them, it's almost always tennis players again. But still popular at bars and grills, but it seems the axe/knife throwing area and the corn hole areas are more popular than the pickle ball courts. Laser tag/paint ball/air soft businesses are dying out now.

I disagree.
If/when that happens around where we play.
Doing that labels you as a whining loser trying to make an excuse.
You would be a marked man if you kept playing.

This shouldn't be a surprise, pointing to a paddle as why someone is better & you losing is insulting & honestly silly.
Even you understand this when saying "I don't disagree".
Completely agree. One must be really insecure to worry about what people will think of their paddle and even more insecure if they were to call out someone for playing a certain paddle, especially one that is technically legal for all play except in a USAP tournament.

You look at one place and deemed it "fading" lol? You can't be more wrong. Pickleball courts are popping up everywhere, even in a mall. Wait times in my area are long and getting longer.

Then why pay $110 for a paddle when you can just buy a $10 if you don't give a fark?
So if you are not playing in tournaments, you don't give a fark???Confused

Then people are going to dislike the new "legal" 4 model, it has a distinct sound!

Maybe if they concentrated more on their shot making rather than sound, they may have played better.

As a matter of fact, how about practice more!
I don't know about anyone else but this is the 1st sport I've played where most people do not like to practice! 🤔

I would even take a warm up for the length of the average game!
Instead it's dink for maybe 5 minutes then play.
You then get the….that was a warm up game!
I completely agree with you. It's so hard to find someone to practice with rather than just play a game. Then people wonder why they never get better, because they make the same mistakes over and over.

No, that's just one place I see every day when I leave and come back home. I even mentioned the bar and grill places. shake head

FYI these aren't legal paddles. It's fine for rec play (if your group allows them), but they can't be used in tournaments.

Fad? It's continuing to be the fastest-growing sport in the USA. My city added another 40 courts in the past year, along with two private facilities opening. It sounds like you just aren't good at it. Or if you think it's not a challenging sport, watch some 5.0-level players at your local park.

I would've loved to pick up a MOD-TA $50. I can't even find a used one at that price. Too bad it's sold out

[QUOTE=jaqnabox;177093973]I would say I am a 3.5 player. Played tennis and transitioned to pickleball. I've been playing for about 1 year now (4-6 hrs a week). I've owned several $200+ paddles (Joola Scorpeus, Selkirk Power Air series) and demoed many other high end paddles (Luxx, perseus, amped air, ronbus, vatic). I also had friends get started with pickleball and play with AliExpress/Temu raw carbon fiber knock offs. I sold off most of my expensive ones because they were too generic or marginally better than a Temu/Friday paddle. My thoughts after a year of playing and introducing others.:Category: Beginner/Intro with no background in paddle/racquet sports. Player level (0-2)Paddle composition: Fiberglass paddles with little to no texture surface. Cost:

The JOOLA Perseus MOD TA 15 16mm Pro Player Edition lost its USAP certification hence the sale price.

But if you only play in rec play, does it really matter? In for 1.
lol yes it matters. After the certification expires if someone plays against me in rec play I'd ask them to use another paddle.

Again, I don't disagree but if you show up with anything that's banned, don't be surprised/upset if someone starts accusing you of cheating. I don't care if it's a golf club, bowling ball, baseball bat etc... if you're playing competitively with something that is banned, people are going to call you out for it.
What I'll do next is play with a $12 paddle and still win. There are lots of Karen in pickleball.

You can certainly ask but it doesn't mean they are required to obey your command. It is only banned from USAP tournament. There are governing bodies where the paddle is not banned, pretty much all other associations except the USAP. Do you even know why it was banned? Yeah didn't think so. But you do you Karen. Make sure before you play anyone in rec play, go up to them and look up the paddle they are playing to make sure they are certified by the governing body of your choice. This is not the only paddle or brand that it happened to. Do you know all of the ones that are banned?
