This was my exact experience, and I bought an entire pallet. No exaggeration, contrary to what the miracle gro superfan commenter claims. I'm sure quality varies region to region depending on who is contracted to pack this stuff, but if you're in the northeast, it's mulch and literal garbage. So much plastic.

Go to your local garden center or materials supplier instead.

I bought a bunch of this from Home Depot a month and a half ago for planting shrubs and flowers. They've done fine so far. 0.75 cu ft is smaller than you'd think, so order more than you expect you'll need. You can probably even return any excess.

$2/bag * 8 bags + $3 delivery fee = $20, and it arrived on my front door step within several hours.

I need 2 cu yard or 60 cu ft of soil for my new raised bed.

Local nursery charge $75 as delivery fee and $30/cu yard for top soil+compost (50/50) mix. comes around $140 delivered at driveway.

lowes@80 bags cost would be same as local soil delivery. Not sure which way is best.

If decided to go through lowes route, then is there any other discounts (i have lowes pro card which is 5% off) that i can apply?

Ah, for those who forgot to get it at this price from Home Depot when they has this sale.price for over a month.
Its a fine buy comes up every year, but a bit late in the season no to be planting most things.

I just get the Walmart stuff. More cu. ft for your buck even with this stuff is on sale, and have yet to get a bad bag. Plus they're deliver it right to your doorstep for free if you have W Plus. Big Grin

Which one is that? in my area it's $5 for 2 cuft for the expert gardener one and they don't deliver even with W+. Could you share the link?

I've been resodding my lawn each year (bermuda) - and I buy this as a base - but did buy real topsoil this year to top dress. Just sodding a little at a time - over 10,000 square feet done, and looks really good.

I've bought three different brands of "garden soil," this spring. Only one of them was close to being soil. The rest were more like mulch with lots of larger wood chips. The best was Lowe's brand, Sta-Green. It appeared to be composted pine bark, which was actually allowed to compost and break down. The worst was Walmart 's brand , Expert Gardener. It was primarily big wood chips, many over an inch wide, and it strongly smelled of pine. It appeared to be nothing more than a recently cut pine tree that was made into wood chips. No soil.

I just bought this Miracle Grow, and picked it up this week. It falls between the good, Sta-Green and the awful, Expert Gardener (awful, if what you're looking for is actual soil). The Miracle Grow was still mostly wood chips but they were smaller than the Expert Gardener, and there was a bit more consistency of soil. The problem with putting uncomposted wood chips in your garden, is that they deplete your nitrogen levels. They're fine as a mulch, but incorporating them into your soil will deplete nitrogen and stunt plant growth until they breakdown, so if you're using these as soil, incorporate some nitrogen to offset what they deplete.
