These aren't true Wusthof. These are cheap Chinese steal. If you want legit Wusthof you'll need to start with the Classic line. Gourmet isn't forged steel but rather stamped and has a lower HRC(hardness scale) which both make legitimate differences to performance, quality, and lifespan.
Wusthof says they are made in Germany. Btw Wusthof blades aren't forged, the bolster is forged to the blank. https://www.wusthof.com/knives-by-series/gourmet
Per Wusthof "A forged knife is crafted by heating a single piece of specially formulated WÜSTHOF steel to over 2000°F and shaping it in a compression forge to achieve the desired shape."
The cheaper steel used in the Gourmet line is stamped and has a noticeably meh 55-56 HRC compared to the forged, yes, Classic line with 58 HRC.
