Was in Japan for about a month during the end of last year, In no point did I felt I was mistreated for being a tourist at all throughout the duration of my trip. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. just make sure you're following the proper etiquette and learn a couple of common Japanese phrases before arriving. Can't wait to go again.
Japan treats tourists they don't want way better than Americans treat their fellow citizens.

Japan doesn't want tourists. There policy is just as unfair to tourists as we are. Stop giving money to countries that don't want you there and treat you unfairly.

Starting to feel like we're becoming a Communist country. The tourists the Japanese don't want are the disrespectful tourists.

They like Chinese tourists more than American tourists because we don't respect Asian cultures

I don't think they like Chinese in particular. Japanese are nice as long as you are considerate and polite.

"Japanese are nice as long as you are considerate and polite." Duh, we, Americans, are "nice as long as you are considerate and polite." Take out the word Japanese, and add any people.

I have a bunch of Alaskan and Hawaiian airlines points. Can I book with those and get a discount on what the normal award redemption would cost?

Also .. pretty flexible on dates. When would the optimal time to be in Japan be ? Also what's the minimum amount of days to visit and get a good taste ? 10? 14? 21? Itinerary? Off to chat gpt, feel free to steal this prompt lol.

edit . checked a couple dates. was getting 40k Alaskan airline miles per flight. seems like best best is paying cash as those are low redemptions. I'm going to pass

Yeah, I've been to Japan several times. The Japanese don't care one way or another if the person next to them is Japanese or a visitor. As long as the person isn't doing something asinine. Americans are adept at doing asinine shit, but even then, the Japanese are respectful enough to not make a scene.

Visiting an Asian country? Don't be Johnny Somali Pt. 2 please.
