How does this fare in comparison to an older x3d CPU like the 5800x3d it 7800x3d for a gaming PC? Is it worth it to have the newer r9 chip?

Was just thinking this… have a Ryzen 5 5600x I think from early 2021 and not sure about mobo support or whether something like this is worth the gain when paired w a 3070

If you need the cores, yes.

Yup , 2024 . This chip was the last re-do of Ryzen 4 , and it came out pretty late .

This is basically a slightly worse 5950x, which came out in November 2020. That said, this is less than half the price of the 5950x when it came out

I have the 5950X (100mhz or so faster than this) and it handles everything I throw at it. Gaming, CAD, LLMs, etc.

My Noctua NH-U12S with the second fan was NOT enough to keep it below 90C. With this part binned slightly lower it might not be as tough to cool. I picked up a Thermalright Frozen Notte 360mm AIO and it's better. Highest I've seen is 86C with a floor fan speed of 45% and ramping up to 100% at 75C. Usually after gaming I'll check coretemp max temp and it's usually around 72C. I have it in an NZXT H6 Flow with every fan spot populated.

Chip gets hot doing single-threaded stuff mostly. During all-core workloads it it limited to the 145W socket limit but each core at that point is 3.6-4.2Ghz.

It's 16-core Zen 3. What price were you hoping for? $150?

5950X launched at a $799 MSRP in 2020, and the slightly slower 5900XT launched at $349 three and half years later.

I think the deal is dead. Showing $323.99 in cart and on checkout, and the post doesn't list a coupon code to use.
