Probably because in the USA, outdoor cats are destroying wildlife at a rate that is now driving many native species to extinction.

I love putting up bluebird boxes. I have helped a lot of bluebirds have clutches babies throughout the years. These boxes don't last long because I don't seal them or anything with chemicals, but usually I can get them cheaper at Walmart. It just depends, but this is a nice one for the price. The last one I got had a metal roof which helped a lot, especially keeping the predator birds from trying to stick their heads in and kill the baby birds. They slide off because it's metal. But I hope more people put more of these boxes out. It's a real fun thing to watch.
Well since you feed feral cats and don't mind them in your yard I wouldn't put up a bird feeder or a birdhouse for nesting. The cats will definitely get them and I'm sure you wouldn't want to see that but everybody has their own little hobby to help animals

I buy cedar straight from the mill to make these bird houses. Sell the raw kits with the cut pieces, instructions and deck screws for $20. Make a killing.

I have a 6 compartment birdhouse that blue birds love. But only one pair will nest at a time so I'm gonna pick up at least a two pack and see if Incan attract more.

You feed the nastiest pest animal in the world. I turn feral/stray cats into red mist when they find themselves on my property... Disgusting piss spraying animals.

Bull feathers! Cats are believed to have come to America with Christopher Columbus. Anything they were going to make extinct would be long extinct. We have 6 cats on the porch and get about 10-12 dead animals a year in the yard. We have 3 in the house that go outside and they are to fat to catch anything. Some people hate cats because they are wild and free and act like animals. I've read those studies, they call cat apex predators, how many house cats do you see living wild in the woods? None they starve to death because they can't kill enough to survive. No I will not put up bird feeders.

Where do you put them on? I imagine it will hurt a tree if you nail it on it?
Do not put on tree or fence. The baby birds will be a happy meal for a snake or racoon.
These nest boxes should be on a pole with a racoon/predator baffle to protect the birds. You're not helping the birds if you don't do this because they would be safer in a natural hidden cavity than in a box that stands out that is easy pickings for a predator.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

All nations have outdoor cats. There have always been outdoor cats. It's because we are cutting down all their habitat. They have less places to go.

Easy there, bub—don't make me call my Bird Lawyer. What you've spewed is tantamount to slander in the Court of Bird Law! laugh out loud

Seriously though, I understand the main point he is trying to convey—namely, that since the 1500s, when Europeans brought small cats to the Americas (small cats are not indigenous), there wasn't a significant issue with them becoming apex predators and relentless bird-killing machines until relatively recently. And I believe I have an answer.

As the Americas became more developed and European immigrants found more leisure time, they began feeding and sheltering songbirds near residential areas where cats resided. Cats were always welcomed, as they provided a useful service—namely, repelling and killing small rodents.

In fact, I could argue that encouraging songbirds to nest close to residential areas where cats commonly reside is irresponsible. Feeding and housing birds may be enjoyable and fun to watch but it needlessly puts them in danger. I could also argue that ultimately, such bird succoring is a selfish and inconsiderate act—not only unnecessarily placing birds in jeopardy but also attracting rodents and other pests to residential areas...
