Im a big watch guy and IMHO this watch has enough selling points to deserve a place in any watch set. It's cheap, it's very lightweight, the band is comfortable, its easy to set and read the time, the battery lasts 10+ years, it's waterproof in up-to snorkeling conditions as long as youre not using the pushers while swimming, and it has a very iconic look that somehow gets compliments(odd, I know). I just got back from a week trip in which wearing an expensive watch may have been a concern, so I grabbed this model out from around 30 others and wore it the whole time. It did the job in spades. Its a great, practical watch.

Yeah, but the Bluetooth on these is terrible! Big Grin

8 year old me used to lust over these watches in the display counter at KMart. Digital watches were high tech in the late 70s/early 80s, and LCD watches just started to hit the market. They started to get featured in TV shows and movies (Knight Rider, Blue Thunder, Bond movies, etc) and that made the appeal even higher. Might pick one up for the nostalgia. I sported a Casio TV remote watch back in high school and wreaked havoc on school and restaurant TVs LOL.

I am continually amazed that these types of devices are still manufactured, let along make it to Frontpage status on SD. Other than the affore mentioned collector, where is the market for these nowadays? FWIW, I owned one of these in the eighties.

As a fellow watch dude, I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. While the F91w is as iconic as it gets, I've transitioned to the F105 as my designated travel/beater watch for its much more functional backlight,even though it's not as clean looking as the F91w.

Absolutely no offense intended, but I'm continually amazed that people the question the utility of such a watch. Compared to luxury watches, it's practically "weightless", "indestructible", and "free". It doesn't need charging or futzing like a Apple watch. I started wearing one playing tennis to know the time away from my phone, but it's so nice to have time and date at glance. They make 3 million of this watch a year - I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but there is definitely a demand.

The numerals are just too small for my aging eyes. I went with the W217h instead for $16. Numerals are much more legible and much better backlight, while still being a small watch.
