I'd suggest everyone to stay away from ACEMAGIC as they were installing malware on their products. Google "acemagic malware".

I suggest you stop copy posting from other threads without even reading the article.
Firstly, the article is more than a year old, and itself states that only the initial batch were affected not every single product they've launched. So commenting this exact thing on every single thing is plain stupid.
Secondly, it's been clarified time and time again not just by me but other reputable posters such as suryasis, etc that what was the issue/outcry and why was it maleware and also how now windows defender doesn't detect anything as maleware as the problem has been fixed.
Not to mention this is the 2025 model.

890m graphics this has been the best I've seen price wise with this graphics card. I can't wait for these to drop to reasonable prices.

It's the same as a gtx 1070

Spreading fake info is uncool.

There was no "malware" installed by Acemagic on any of their their machines. If you spent 30 seconds on Google you would know that. Instead you spread lies and make yourself look like an idiot. They changed some network settings to make one of their models boot faster without getting software digital signatures and this lowered network security enough that it allowed a couple of viruses to get installed by users when they connected to the internet.

There is a huge difference between what you claim, which is a lie to call a spade a spade, and accidentally changing a few settings that lowered network security.

Stop spreading lies.

Possibly yes, possibly no. Why risk it? Why give your money to a company that would allow incidents like that?

I don't have first hand experience so take this FWIW but supposedly the 890m really excels with faster lpddr ram which has higher clocks than sodimms.

If the problem is in the OS, then yes, a wipe and fresh install undoes what's done. If the problem is in the hardware itself (bios, firmware), then it will persist.

I'd wipe the HD since that is relatively low cost (time and money), and call it a day. However, if you are using it on a high risk network with high value content (let's say for use at a financial institution, government office, or small business) you may not want to start adding disposable no-name computer hardware. Even if they don't have a known backdoor they may not be spending resources developing patches and updates to plug holes that pop up later.

I'll second this. I purchased a different one of their SKUs months after the malware scandal - Google Chrome was already pre-installed and set to route searches to a data collection company, and then redirect the search back to Google. When I contacted support, they claimed pre-installing Chrome was for user convenience, but didn't address the malicious search configuration. They did give me a partial refund though. I couldn't tell what else may have been changed, so I wiped and installed Linux afterwards.
