My problem with science fiction is that I read this short work first. Most everything else in the category pales in comparison.

I am not huge into reading novels, but I read this book in 2 days, probably 20 years ago. (During a 2 day road trip where I didn't need to drive.). Philip K. Dick is one of the few writers I don't kind of zone out while reading and can pay attention to everything. He is in my top 3, and there is a big dropoff after that.

On vacation I brought two books--this one and the first Hyperion novel. I knocked this one out in two days and then spent the rest of the week reading Hyperion. I still think a lot about this book, not so much for Hyperion.

What didn't you like about Hyperion? That book and the 3 others in the series are my favorite SciFi outside of Isaac Asimov's Robot and Foundation novels. The series is really two pairs of books that go together pretty well. I remember liking the last two books most.
