The "1 Mile Range" might possibly be close to true if you were standing on top of a mountain and the other person was standing on top of a mountain a mile away with nothing but air in between each other. But not even close to true if using them around buildings or even trees in the way. These essentially work best in clear line of sight. I also expect the transmit power is under 1 watt, possibly significantly under.

1 mile is most likely with straight line of sight. If you are out camping and in hilly areas, the range drops significantly. 1 mile range is misleading.

These are like 14 bucks on AliExpress. Amazon had similar ones for $21 a year ago. So now they're going to sell us on an inflation through giving us inflated prices and then discounting them LOL
