Agreed. The allstate warranty is actually really good. I've had two issues on two products but one was almost two years after purchase and one a little over a year. They refunded my original amount very easily

Meh. I'd rather take a stab at Secondipity XM5 refurb for $179 and 2 year Allstate warranty. But that's just me

Just got the 1000XM4 for $63 new.

edit: looking further, they can be had for $57-63 from several eBay sellers with decent seller ratings.

You won't have a Sony warranty that way... but at $60 (if they are not fakes), it's replaceable.

Yeah, I don't mind taking a chance when paying with Amex. They are the best credit card company for consumer protections, and nobody else comes close.

Ended up getting 2 sets of the 1000MX5s for $50 each, shipping from China from a seller with good feedback. Will find out next month if they're legit Lol

Don't buy the XM4s without a good warranty. I bought a pair and less than two years later the left speaker started screeching (painfully) in noise cancellation mode, and then the right speaker became very quiet. Sony refused to even respond to any emails asking for a repair.

I never dropped the headphones once, and I kept them in the original case when not in use. It was a pure manufacturer defect.

I'm on my second refurbished pair from Secondipity. First pair I purchased in 2022 iirc and I wore them into the ground. Accidentally sat on them earlier this year and broke them. So far no issues with the replacement. Hopefully won't have any issues with these either

the m5 are great for long listens. took it on a flight from SFO to haneda japan. did not feel any over pressure or my ears feeling hot. very comfortable and lightweight.

My Secondipity XM5 refurb battery drains fast now that I've used it for couple of years. I wonder if I should've bought a new one. This offer does sound tempting.

Just got the Ult Wears for $65 from secondipity w/ 2year warranty the other day. Works pretty great and have been impressed with it so far. I don't see the need to spend 3x for XM4s or 4x for XM5s.

Ult Wear is the SE variant of the XM line. Design of the XM3/4 with the chip and processing of the XM5

it was only 208 like 5 month ago when I bought it. Now that XM6 is out, there is no reason to by this. XM4 is also 175
