Careful with open box on this one - I went through 3 different "excellent condition" units that had stick spikes/drift. I love the Edge, unfortunately it is a controller designed to fail. The replacement sticks are $19 each, can also be hard to find, and are just as prone to fail. Good luck with Sony warranty too.

I love this controller. I have had the Microsoft Elite Series 2 controllers for years, but his one just feels better to me. The only real downside is the battery life.

I bet they're open box from people buying them, swapping out their old stick drift joysticks, and then returning them.

I have both and like the feel and layout of the Elite 2 (core) a bit more, but I am also one of the few yet to experience drift on the Elite (also I got mine for $68 from Verizon)

I'm kinda out of the loop with PS5 stuff but what happened to the $50 controller or less? Did it retire early or what?

This is their version of an elite controller so it would be more expensive, but yea outside of sales, controllers have not been $50 for at least the last 2 generations

It's 100% people swapping them out and returning them. If Sony is going to make purposely shitty sticks and isnt even going to makes replacement sticks more available I dont even blame them.

For a controller at this price point it needs to have more than five hours of battery life. The elite and the switch pro have amazing battery life. I don't understand why Sony can't pull their heads out of their asses on this issue.

Weird, I've had mine for a year already and haven't had any drift issues. I do play cod games so I believe I do push the controller to its limits, I've do take care of my things tho (never dropped it stuff like that) even the regular ps5 controllers I haven't had that problem, but I do believe that the ones I have are the 2nd version which they did fix those issues.

If you are handy with electronics and can do a bit of soldering, look into hardware modding your current controller using an extremerate kit. The soldering is only needed if you want to map L3/R3 buttons to the back buttons, and if you want the trigger stops to automatically turn off rumble but I would highly recommend it.

I now have four back buttons, and trigger stops for FPS Shooters. Also, the trigger stops become mouse like clicks, not just a passive stop.

I installed a kit on two of my controllers. One was the original 1st gen, while the second was the latest 5th gen (though folks may not realize it when looking at it externally, but internally the Dualsense has had 5 generations). I ran into issues with the 5th gen and had to muck about in Reddit forums to understand what I needed to do to fix the controller not powering up after installation. But it worked out in the end. Had to redo it with some recommended tweaks from the forums.

This is a relatively cheaper option since you have a Dualsense already. But of course, it takes time, patience, a bit of luck and skill. But that's part of the fun!

How many ps5 controllers have you guys lost to stick drift? I've lost 4 so far. Rocket League and joy sticks = death to my controllers

I totally get that. I was in that same camp till I got this one. I am happy with both controllers, and I do love the battery life of the Elite Series 2.
