This particular Gshock is just like many other standard digital watches with the standard features you find on most digital watches. Some Gshocks have additional features and you usually pay for those additional features. The advantage over a run of the mill digital watch (like the Casio you have), are gshocks have better shock resistance due to the design of their internals (they kinda float), making them "shock proof" and therefore "Gshock". That's not to say they are perfectly, shock proof but it would take a pretty big impact to affect it. Add to that Gshock watches tend to be built with more rugged materials in the bezel and band, they can take a beating and still look great. Lastly, they're also a fashion statement and are valuable in that sense.
This particular model has the gold display, which is part of their gold line. I have the mudmaster solar version of their gold line and paid a lot more for it but I have yet to need to change the battery on it in 10 years. For $23, you get a good, solid watch that will last forever (with battery changes).

I do stand by my statement that the gold display can be difficult to read at times and requires good light and the right angle (when not using the illumination).
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 interesting. Thank you for the helpful information. I appreciate it. For whatever reason I can't get into this one while mine looks simplistic and easy to read. Maybe I'm just getting too old. Regardless, I'll give this particular one a chance before deciding to return with valid reason. Thank you again

That it? I mean I'm not blown away about this watch. for reference I have this Casio watch. https://a.co/d/4OCxbdW

Perhaps I'm missing the point here despite being open minded here
For me a lot of it is nostalgia. I grew up with G-Shocks. Back when I was a kid, the lore of the G-shock is what initially attracted me. I mean, the non-negative version of this watch was once standard issue to our military. Then, as a young adult working (very heavy) manual jobs, I found that none of my watches lasted more than a few months. G-Shocks lasted until the battery, pin, or band snapped (years and years). And even then, the module itself would still work so I'd often throw 'em in a shoebox until I felt like tinkering with them. My watches today mostly consists of cheap Casios and G-Shocks because of the admiration I have for a company that can offer so much durability and value. I do agree with a previous post that Casio's negative display are hit and miss. But who can pass up a cheap G-Shock?

Also, please don't take this the wrong way, but you can tell a lot about a person by the watch they're wearing.

I ordered this yesterday for shipping and it arrived an hour later. Kudo's to Walmart!

This is my first "negative display" LCD watch and it is a bit difficult to read indoors. When it's really dark, I can hit the backlight and it's fine. There's an indoor "gray area" of illumination level where the watch seems hard to read with or without the backlight. Outside of that it's easy to read.
Beyond that, I find this watch to be very comfortable. It won't win any beauty contests but that's part of it's charm in my opinion. For this price, I won't worry about wearing it when working in the yard or wrenching on my truck. I like it.

Thank you for sharing. This is bigger than my Apple Watch 6 44mm stainless steel LTE.

I have tried really hard to like and justify this but for whatever reason I can't make it work. There are more compromises that I simply can't fix ie reverse backlight to permanent, button sticks out more for easy press from my very large hands and such. None works so I'm returning it. Too bad for me tho

Just pulled out my 15 year old G-shock that I haven't worn in 10 years and still going. Looks at my Apple Watch that barely lasts a day :/

Yes:
Apple Watch = Idiot, like me who bought into the hype
Rolex = Really, you paid that much for something to tell you the time?
G-Shock = Oh yah, your a baller for sure!
