I assume that his question was a request to clarify what "hackable" meant, not whether the deal was hackable or not.
Well, let's assume that's the case and not asking IF it's hackable...

Hackable?
Basically you buy BOGO items and then you can return unwanted items and keep your desired product at a pro-rated price. For an easy example, add the items into you HD cart then look at how the prices change for each. Buy everything, then return what you don't want and you can get some pretty good deals on tools/batteries...
Visually the batteries look different and the charger appears to be fast charger now(vs the usual starter kit). Anyone know if the battery tech has changed?

I have these "new" chargers. Not sure if they changed but work well. I tried a no name brand set of 2x6ah batteries and have been pleasantly surprised for 43$
two of the free tools (orbital sander and angle grinder) are XR, 2 are atomic, the other 2, I believe are 20V Max.
At one time, these batteries and charger went on sell for $90, but without the new tools which go on sale for roughly 100-179 each. So if you need the tools, this may be the better deal.
Price is $299 now - seems like a memorial day sale.
Question about this hack.
The regular price of the Orbital Sander is $169.99 but when I add to car with this 2-free-tool promotion, the price drops to $71.47. If I "hack" this deal and return the Orbital Sander to HD, will they refund me the $169.99 or $71.47? I assyme the $71.47 price, but I've never done this and don't know and would rather know what i'm getting into if I'm going to play the game. Thanks in advance!

Delete trash brushed tools. Lowend older batteries they are hoisting junk onto suckers. That you.
A positive in brushed tools is that they do not require a microcontroller to use. And brushes are very cheap and easy to replace typically. It is not uncommon for people to think brushless tools are not good tools. It's different tech, but still viable. There is a common problem with DeWalt switches that are needed for use in their brushless tools. It fails to a high degree. They use a cheap Chinese supplier for them. Also, if the microcontroller fails it the whole tool is done. Cheaper to buy another than get the replacement board from Dewalt. I'm not downing brushless tools/motors just pointing out some negatives. Pros being more power and battery efficiency should also be higher.
