Did we need an 80-year old Indy story? No. Did the new Indiana Jones and the Great Circle video game have a better story? Yes, but it's a really great game, with a story worthy of a full movie. The Great Circle story is better fleshed out than Temple of Doom's, objectively speaking.
I enjoyed Dial of Destiny, and felt the overall movie was worthwhile. Im still waiting for it to come down to $5 so I can complete my digital Indy collection. Interestingly, I think Crystal Skull had the opposite problem. A strong start, weak middle, and terrible ending. As such, I consider Dial of Destiny the better movie.
