Do you also blow yourself up when you change bottles on your grill and other propane appliances? Been using this exact same adapter for many years to fill up smaller bottles without issue. It's super simple and don't see how anyone would blow themselves up doing it unless they're idiots.

The only other issue is that it's a felony to transport the non refillable propane tanks that have been refilled. If something happens, you know they will go after you. It's better to use these types of adapters with refillable 1 lb propane tanks.

If someone is really worried about the seal on these 1 pound containers, they can use a permanent marker to mark each time they refill it, and simply limit it to 10 times, or something like that. I once had a tiny backpacking butane camp stove, and figured the rubber seal on that was good for at least a few dozen uses. (hooking up to the stove, using it, then packing everything up to go the next day)

Now I just need something similar that lets you do the same with natural gas from the line....

No need to freeze the small tank or put the 20lber in the sun... I use this regularly to fill tanks for hunting season. Just flip the 20lber upside down and attach 1lber.. open valve and allow to fill... Trick is to wear gloves and take a small pair of needle nose or forceps and pull on the over fill valve pin on top of the 1lber til liquid starts coming out. This allows the air to purge and back fill with propane to get a complete fill..Plenty of YouTube videos on this if u doubt me.

No matter what I do, I can't get the propane to transfer using these valves - turned upside down, new, full 20lb bottle, nothing??Watched all the videos - pretty idiot proof.......except for me it seems!!I now have 7 of the small cans waiting to be refilled and just can't seem to get it to work!

You're getting half a fill or less because the liquid changes to a gas when it undergoes a pressure change. Spend the extra money and get the refillable tanks. They have a purge valve to release the air and make room for the liquid propane. They are also dot approved
youre doing it wrong then ...

we cool the small bottles in the freezer at work -- then load them with the big -- and actually get as much or MORE than the store bought weight ...

and we have been doing dozens of these a week for YEARS at a time ...

Can I do this with a garden hose to get one of the tanks outside for safety?

Spend a few bucks more, get one with a hose and ball valve. Most importantly, get a scale! Propane is measured in weight of it's a 16 oz bottle then don't put more than 16oz in.

For those curious about the refilling options and freezing versus other methods, the vid below goes over a couple of ways to do it.

(Please only click this link if you're over the age of 18 and comfortable with the idea of possibly blowing yourself up while screwing around with flammable gas) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYdQf-mJW-A

(All others please avoid the link above at all costs and watch a cute pet vid instead) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM9bxvFbtJg

Legal disclaimer: I do not condone refilling disposable tanks, blowing yourself up or harassing your neighborhood emus for entertainment purposes.

Flip the big tank over and then fill it, and you'll get all liquid. Have a good day.
