Warning: These mold in no time due to the more porous nature of the skin compared to PVC. Every spring during cleanup week, a number of homes toss these out half black through the length of them.

Unless put away in a garage out of the weather, they grow mold. Even on hose reels or hanging on the side of a house in humid climates, they go yuck.

I just got this a week ago from homedepot for $40. I've had a short hose of this for several years and holding up good. Some people complain of mold or dirt stains on it. I have a hose reel and use only on patio so it's NA to me. I need to go back and put some teflon tape on both ends to avoid it rusting together with my brass ends on nozzle and hose reel before I wait years and it's a problem.

The craftsman rubber hose from Sears is $15 or 50ft and $25 for 100ft If I can remember correctly. I have two 50ft and one 100ft, just in the outside winter and summer for at least 10 years. car run over it almost everyday.
Same here, I have 3 or 4 that are 10 plus years old, I hate getting them out, to heavy. I did destroy one with a lawn tractor once. I still see the same craftsman hose occasionally now, not as cheap and I don't know if it's still the same hose, craftsman changed hands a few years ago right?

Same mold issues for me as most people. I knew about that before I bought it. Aside from the mold it's the best hose I have ever owned.

One year warranty for those interested. Personally I've had so many hoses fail on me, I'm no longer buying any without lifetime warranties.
I've been very satisfied with Swan or Flexon hoses from the big box stores. They've failed as often as any others, but I just send a picture to them of the ends cut off, and I get a replacement in the mail within a week.

i dont know the exact brand but here's one that's similar https://a.co/d/9nRvKvI time will tell how long it'll last but it's easy to maneuver and put away. just shove it into a basket, no winding.
...or get ZERO-G garden hose. Amazon or ACE or bunch of other places. These things are amazing. I step on it, i keep it in the sun. i use them for everything and it is really hard to mess them up. i have been using them for like 10 years. Garden, car wash, around pool, they take whatever i throw at them. Very light wight to move round.

Been using this hose for a couple seasons, make sure to store it out of the sun to avoid the sticky/moldy issues

I live in western Oregon and have had several of these that look virtually brand new. I purchased my 100 footer 3 years ago and it lives outside on my south facing wall year round. Mold grows on everything here, so it's odd other people are getting mold and I'm not.

For what is worth, I tried an expanding hose as well as a steel hose. The steel hose is ok for basic watering but doesn't work for large sprinklers. I threw the expanding hose was garbage. I had to wait for it to expand to get much water out of it and it I tried to use anything high flow (i.e., jet stream) it would shrivel up and the flow would drop. In short order it started leaking and I threw it away since you can't even repair it like a normal hose.

This looks like a good deal. I was going to get this but then I saw Harbor Freight had a 50 foot, made in Taiwan, Continental copy for $30 (coupon). It is heavy but seems well made. 3/4 diameter.

I bought one a couple years ago and the hose material on first couple feet of the outlet side have like a permanent sticky residue on it. I wrapped in electrical tape to cover it up, not sure what the issue is with it.

I don't know why there are complaints about mold. I've had these hoses for years and have never had a single issue. I own two 100 foot and I'm about to buy a 3rd 100ft hose for the back of the house

The only hose last forever is the rubber hose from Sears! That is the only thing I missed for Sears.
You're 100% correct. I have had those for 10 years, lying outside all year long and they are still doing well.
