This is very false. Displayport is a monitor interface standard, analogous to HDMI and better in some cases. DisplayLink is a CPU-based virtual monitor solution that generates a fake monitor and streams a video stream over usb and then shows that. DisplayLink docks may have DisplayPort outputs, but they're entirely separate.

This would be a good match for a m4 Mac mini right?

This is an older dock and while looking for detailed specs [belkin.com] I found this support document related to the Mac [belkin.com]. Like the price, but I will hold off.

For an extra $35, I'd get this (which is now $75) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DSJ633D8?
You're gaining SD card support, a much better form factor, and not losing anything by the non-Thunderbolt interface.

EDITED

While the M3 MacBook line did receive a software update allowing them to drive two displays when the lids closed, it's a little vague as to whether it works with Thunderbolt 3 docks or just Thunderbolt 4 docks.

If you need multiple monitor use on M1-3 macs, this dock can't do it and can't use display link.
There have been other docks on sale around this price with display link compatibility so pass on this one.

I used this dock for years and it mostly got the job done. My first one lasted about two years then died. The replacements never lived up to the original and had terrible coil whine. I made due with headphones for as long as I could but jumped on a Caldigit as soon as a sale came up.

I used this as part of a dual monitor + kvm setup and had no issues running my M1 Pro at 30hz. The power pass through made it very hot and maxed at ~60w.

Only 10Gbps while the Belkin is 40.

i'll never understand why some of these docks have one hdmi and one display port. Do 2 of the same thing, not 1 of each.I hate dealing with displayPort (DisplayLink) on macs, it's a pain. HDMI is much better to deal with.
I'm not sure what you mean by "DisplayPort (DisplayLink)", those are two unrelated technologies. FWIW I've used DisplayPort ports on TB docks with M series Macs with no issues.

Yep. This is the key differentiator that people fail to comprehend when they bring up a $15 usb-c only 10Gbps dock. To me, the difference is no external SSD disconnect when I have a webcam and mouse fighting against that SSD for same 5 or 10 Gbps bandwidth.

$30 is worth it for 40Gbps. Picked one up when I really don't need it. But good to have a spare.
