I got this soundbar last week and while it's not as good as my full setup, it's miles and miles ahead of any tv and puts out WAY more than enough for a living room setup. This soundbar also blows away any of the HTIB systems that used to be popular before soundbars. Just a good and full sound that defies what you would think you would get from a huge soundbar and some small surrounds.
On top of all that, everything is wireless so theres no cables to run inside walls. Simply plug in a few power cables and your up and running within minutes.
Most people know the difference between a full setup and soundbar, they're just completely different products for different applications. Before being an arrogant keyboard warrior, you should consider the bigger picture beyond your own opinion.
It has 15 speakers and 1 sub.
Bar itself has 7 front facing speakers plus 2 Atmos speakers (9 speakers total), each satellite speaker has 2 speakers plus 1 Atmos speaker (6 speakers total), and then the sub.
That's what those numbers designate. 11 surrounds, 1 subwoofer, 4 Atmos. 11.1.4 🙂
edit: I stand corrected, there are a bunch of extra front middle channel speakers that aren't really called out unless you do a deep dive into the specs. The UK version/link shows it more clearly.

The Samsung HW-Q990D soundbar system includes a total of 22 speakers. This includes 11 front-facing speakers in the soundbar, 1 subwoofer, and 4 up-firing channels (including rear speakers).
Here's a breakdown:
One speaker(bar) containing several tiny drivers/woofers.
Two satellite size speakers with several tiny drivers/woofers.
One very small subwoofer providing lower frequencies.

Some day I'll get a Wiim receiver and a solid 2.1 hifi setup. Until then, this will do nicely.

Hoping for another code that knocks off another 10 percent off.

Please see the link below, where Samsung claims 22 speakers. There is also a diagram showing the speakers.
Please note that in my original post, I put quotes around "speakers" because that's what Samsung calls them, but they don't compare favorably to home theater speakers, which offer multiple drivers and crossovers. I consider this system to have 22 drivers, not speakers.
It's a good system for the price, but most enthusiasts are likely to prefer the sound of a 11.1.4 home theater, which has more channels than most AVRs can process or power. (Soundbar = lower cost, less space, and easier to use).
Per Samsung at the below link: "True 11.1.4ch Sound, 22 speakers for our most cinematic sound. Our best sound experience yet. Whether it's a movie or your favourite show, hear every detail in precise surround sound. Dive into the future of cinematic audio, right at home, with 22 speakers that are expertly tuned by Samsung's award-winning Audio Lab."
