Roomba (iRobot) is an American company, so, profits? I'm not sure but I have this vacuum and it's amazing. I will say, $800 right now is pretty average since it's been out for a little while, so I would probably wait. I think I paid $800 for mine a little over a year ago on a really good sale then.

When I purchased mine in 2023 it was between this brand and Roborock. The Roborock top of the line model at that time was the s7 max V ultra. I went with Roborock... Barely used the thing 20 times. Just recently on my first Mop only cycle, it leaked water from some internal pump and fried the IR sensor. The robot is now useless as it cannot find the dock. Fortunately, I got it from a deal on here that had a 2 year SquareTrade warranty and will be sending it in for repair. Keep that in mind if buying a Roborock. I found similar complaints on Reddit about this issue.

The x50 is the newest so the older model is discounted. I have the x40 and it's a workhorse. Sadly don't get anything Irobot or Roomba right now. They fell a few years behind everyone in technology and are just now trying to catch up and it's pretty ugly. I hope they survive. Dreame, Roborock, Narwal and Eufy are the majors, and they all have some amazing bots.

I purchased an L40 Ultra which worked very well for the first 2 months. It just started failing with an error message related to the mop pads. Turns out, this is a relatively common issue with the Dreame vac + mop combos and it will require servicing and/or replacement. I've been communicating with Dreame service for > 2 days now with no end in sight. Just sharing this experience with others as it may affect your purchase decision from this company.

I purchased an X30 a few months ago and we love it. No issues with it and maintenance is pretty simple and straight forward. I had a Roborock and returned it to give Dreame a chance. We're happy that we did, as the price for value and performance is unbeatable.
