The travel advisory for El Salvador just happened to be changed to the safest possible in April. A better safety rating than Costa Rica and many Western European countries. Even travel advisories are being used as propaganda now.

sigh. no propaganda.

san salvador has been deemed safe for over a year and a half now. i can tell you this but if you want proof, just read tripadvisor reviews and go back a year ago.

You can make anywhere "safe" by just rounding up and imprisoning "undesirables". Along with grabbing a whole lot of other folks with little to no association with them for good measure. Don't forget the secret courts where the charged are literally not allowed to present a defense and have tens to hundreds of other co-defendants during the same trial. And if your family speaks out, there's a good chance they'll get to join you at "camp" a few weeks later. And camp never ends, or at least it might, but you won't be going home when it does.

Germany was very safe for visitors in the 1930s, also.

Aren't flights to El Salvador free now if you have crude photoshop skills and a photo of your (brown) hand?
