No, you don't need to use the remote to turn on/off. Source: I bought multiple sets of this weeks ago on the previous SD thread about them. You can turn these on/off via a switch in the back, then selecting source via the back dial which doubles as a button. OR by using the remote.

You can also do a 5-second thing explained in the manual that keeps it permanently on, if you don't like the default setting out of the box (auto-sleep after an hour of no signal). There is little difference in energy use: in sleep mode it eats about half a watt, but even if left on and idle, it eats less like 3.7 watts according to my Kill-A-Watt. Also, this Magnat's 0.5/3.7 watts is way better than either of the desktop speakers they replaced, which ate 6/10 and 7/10.5 watts. (YMMV. But one of those speaker was Monoprice's DT-3 50W set which is priced similarly, sounds a bit worse, and is still being sold new today.)

However, these do not have subwoofer outs, and while there are workarounds, it isn't worth the hassle for me.

Great deal if you want 2 powerful desktop/bookshelf speakers and don't need a sub. Bluetooth 4.1 offers flexibility. I don't have a record player but the phono amp support is nice.

Yes these are good, especially for this price. At this price point your other option are Edifier speakers which honestly sound terrible. Buy these and enjoy. Otherwise save up $500, because that's what you'll have to spend to see any appreciable gain. Thats also the most you'll want to spend on bookshelf speakers.

Are these good and should I buy now or can I wait? Seems like most people online get them at this price.

How do you connect this sub to the speakers? It doesn't look like they have sub out support?

would these be good to connect to my projector via Aux cable for a golf simulator? Or would a soundbar be a better option?

I ended up using the 2000s on my pc with my old sub. I did this using Voicemeeter banana advanced mixer. The 2000s are hooked to the tos and the sub is hooked to the 3.5. Banana has an eq. Banana isn't easy to use but there are tones of vids

I have a pair of Focal 706 S and couldn't find a replacement tweeter on the internet. Should I get this to pull out the tweeters for my Focal?
