It's pretty loud, but compressors in most applications aren't always running. This one runs until it reaches 150 psi and then shuts down until it drops slightly below that.

They've been selling for $99 for like 10 years now. That was the original MSRP on these. These work fine, but the 85 dB = No deal. That is high even for a pancake air compressor.

Chiming in, I've got the Porter Cable version, these little guys are quite noisy. It's not totally unbearable but it's unpleasant especially if you're running it in the garage. Outdoors it's slightly better, though I always avoid running it early in the morning because it's definitely loud enough to be annoying to close neighbors. The saving grace is that it's only 6 gallons, so it fills up pretty quick. I think at the $99 price point it's good, though. It'll get you out of a jam and handle small jobs, I like mine.

Mine hits 150psi then sits there until about 80psi then fires back up.

Yes it is noisy but it is very portable and has been quite reliable for the last 6 years I have been using it for my nailers. That is the only use I have subjected it to except airing up a few small tires.
