Has anyone found a way to check the price without physically going to the store?
If we call the store and get luck in actually connecting with an employee, would their look-up up the item show the clearance price if applicable at that store?

Don't call the store. This will tip employees off. If they're in the know, they will buy as many as they can (probably if only a few left, buy them all) and then resell for a quick +$50 profit on ebay or locally.
