Not good value compared to what you can get for the price! Look out for prices to go down way more going forward! This year Black Friday deals will be starting late summer-early fall

No local dimming, 60hz, and black levels are not great. Good for a basement giant TV?

As one who has gone from edge lit TVs to local dimming, I'm not going back.

FWIW... Rtings reviewed the 75" that has an IPS panel (low contrast / wide viewing angle) while the 85" size has a VA panel (higher contrast / narrower viewing angle). This is confirmed in the "Differences Between Sizes And Variants" section of the review. Since Rtings' review criteria favors VA panels, expect the 85" size to perform much better than their review suggests.

I just filtered Amazon reviews for 85" and it's really sad, lots of one star reviews.

Yeah, I was mentioning the same thing in a Costco thread for this TV (well think it was the same TV - different model # since it was costco). Realistically, it would be more like a 7.5 rtings if they reviewed this size. I picked up a 85" Sony 5 years back and it was the same deal (it was a 850 model). In fact, I checked out the model above it which was 950 and it wasn't much better - had local dimming but I had planned on not using it anyway since I hate bloom.

Lots? I would say only a few are legitimate regarding cloudy screens (probably got lemons) and a couple which died outside of warranty (don't know if that's anything of concern or not - I have one 15 years old 52" still kicking and my 85" has been pretty solid for 5 years now, hope they're not going downhill like everyone else). The other few reviews are clearly delivery issues. If you want to get to the bottom of what these TVs are like, go over to AVS forums and see. Someone who complains about the TV legs being too far apart and leaving a bad review doesn't have much credibility LOL.

Clouding is a guarantee with a TV like this.

Why do you say that, because of the size? I have an 85" with no clouding at all, but do remember seeing some complaints about it from some users on AVS so it's hit or miss.

60hz 🤢🤮🤮🤮

Better off with a TCL or Hisense mini LED 85 inch with 120hz for this price.

This 💩 TV should not even exist - a budget Sony with bottom of the barrel specs and too many cut corners, defeats the purpose of paying the Sony premium, and harms their reputation as a premium brand.

I love Sony but with some of the deals that have been available recently, this isn't a deal. Even if your attached to the 85", one can do better than this. I'm not one to recommend Hisense or TCL in general but I'd go with one of their better models over this. Like another poster said, this set has so many drawbacks that it defeats the purpose of buying Sony.
