Are these used? Can't find a condition on the website.

It's crazy that I got one of these for a similar price when I was 13 (AKA a long time ago). I wonder if the quality has changed since then.

For $160, the quality is pretty decent. If you were 13 back in the 90s, then this guitar will be a huge improvement over what you had.

I imagine the setup on these may not be great, but the neck should be straight, the frets won't scratch your hand and should be level enough, pickups fine for the price, dime sized pots and serviceable tuners. Being that Fender doesn't cut its nuts very well, I'd assume this nut might not be great, either.

I'd also consider blocking the trem on these - with cheaper hardware you want to do as much as you can to help the tuning!

i bought the hss version of this when it released and it's fantastic. sold my other guitars. everything i've bought/tried from the sonic series has been great. that being said, these appear to be store demos which guitar center is famously known for shipping out as "new". it looks like their website now has a disclaimer for this at least when you go to the product page
Limited Stock Available
Demo gear has been played by customers in Guitar Center stores, and may have visible blemishes, scratches, or dings.

Well, whatever the case may be, for $160 these days .. you could not possibly find a better starter guitar.

This will get you going and then it's up to you.

It won't be the guitar's fault.

Yeah, Classic Vibes came setup like this, as did my Yamaha Pacifica. You can still push the trem down and have fun with it, but tuning is easier and more stable. 10ish years later, and I still haven't unblocked my Pacifica trem (though my MIM is set to float)
