These cartoons are hilarious. They are for older teenagers to adults, because they have some nudity & lots of silly violence.

I don't know about transexuals being awakened but yes. It introduced me to foreign concepts like panties being objects of desire as well as impromptu face masks.

It turns repetitive fairly quickly (new suitor appears who's in love with one Ranma and has sworn to kill the other Ranma - rinse and repeat), but the first set is hilarious.

Parents be aware that this show focuses on gender identity. Be prepared to for that tough discussion when your 35 year old son turns to you and says "I want to be a like ranma"

On a more serious note, there is a remake of this that came out last fall and covered the first 20 episodes without the filler. It's also animated by MAPPA so it looks amazing. I would take a look at that first.
