How do you attach AC Infinity fan to your router?

There is a usb port in the back. You can plug it into that or you can just use a phone charger and plug it into the usb port. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MWH4FL4

I have this router and it's pretty good but I'm not sure I'd recommend spending $170 on it now as this is outdated out of the box. You can get a rt-be92 for $220. Sure it's $50 more but it's not outdated out of the box, Wi-Fi 7 is supported in most new phones now and good chunk of laptops, and it's got 2.5g ports all around instead of just one, and you get 6ghz support as well.

Its a good router. After 4 1/2 years i upgraded to their next iteration which was the BE86U. The ventilation on that shouldve been the same on this. This one its at an angle, while the BE86U had it along the flat bottom. I dont understand why manufacturers do not run cooling fans for the modem/routers and think that a heat sink would just be enough. I highly recommend using usb fans like from ac infinity on your equipment.
I do this as well

Do you think the BE86U is worth the extra $100?
My apartment is fairly small, so I'm still not sure if WiFi7 is worth it for me over WiFi6.
thanks!
I already use a couple AC Infinity fans for cooling other stuff, so thank you for the heads up on the cooling concern!

how useful to have the 6G band?
all my device at home are wifi 5 or wifi 6; will the wifi 7 router do better than wifi 6 router?

I mean how you use the fan with the router. Do you just blow the air from the fan to the router from outside?

The wifi 7 router does support older signals itll just make another connection. But do you have devices that support wifi 7 or planning on in the next few years? If not maybe hold off. I will say the cooling on this is better and you can directly put a fan underneath and its a straight shot up compared to this router where its angled at the sides

No you are just using ambient air. The air where your router is. That air is cooler than whats inside the router and will transfer heat off the heatsink. I hope that is what you are asking? If i remember ill take a picture of my setup with the new router where the ventilation is compared to the setup of this router.

I have this router and it's good after I installed Merlin. Haven't had to restart for a month. 4 people in the house. 20+ devices. 5ghz channel sometimes has issues but much less since installing Merlin.

https://imgur.com/a/bGMXKHt pictures of the AX86U you can see no vents at the bottom so youll have to put a fan in front to blow towards the red part. Thatll allow air to flow up and out.

The BE86U you can just place a fan underneath as you can see the vents on the red trims and directly underneath.

If you buy this or have any Asus router, make sure your firmware is up to date.

Thank you for clarifying. What a stupid design from ASUS!

I'd recommend anyone in the market for a new router that wants an all-in-one to spend the extra $100 and get a UDR7. SFP+, 2.5Gb switch, POE+, and WiFi 7.
