FYI - These are trim to length. You can buy larger than you need and cut it down to the exact size you want.
Genuine leather is not what you want to see in belts. You want to see the words: full grain leather.
Just need sharp knife or scissors. The trimmed end is hidden in the buckle. Super easy.

Full grain leather is genuine leather. But genuine leather is not necessarily full grain leather. Top grain leather and split grain leather are both genuine leather but not vice versa. Faux leather is usually a polyurethane with the look and feel of leather. There is also a "real" leather that is made of tiny fragments of leather compressed and glued together, sort of like how particle board is the wood.
That's nice for Google/AI, but not in belts.

Make in the China?
Yes, from imported leather (possibly from Italy) then allegedly made by hand in China.

I find mine to be uncomfortable (square edges dig in) and although I learned the mechanism I still don't like it. First time I used it I got stuck and had to pull my pants completely off with belt attached.

I bought a black one and wore it twice playing golf. It bled & stained both shirts. Three cycles of intense stain remover & laundering & the stains are still there.
I do not recommend unless you only wear very dark clothes.
Was it the same brand?

Genuine leather, FYI, so not going to be durable. Also, reviews indicate problems with the buckle/clasp.

For $9.59 it doesn't matter. These belts are excellent and I got some on the last deal

I have 2.5 of these belts. I love them. The first one had the locking mechanism break off on it. So I just bought 2 more. 1 is my daily and the other is the backup. As long as these continue to be made, I'll never buy a traditional belt again. And yes, it's this exact brand that I'm using.

"genuine" leather is industry standard term for the particle board style leather you describe. I am a libertarian that is skeptical of regulation generally but I have no honest answer to this evil capitalism has produced. It should criminal to call leather dust and cheap glue genuine anything.

I was going to say it would be outrageous to make a product mostly out of plastic and binders but with enough saw dust to give a hint of wood smell and call it genuine wood, but I bet that's an entire business model on Amazon.

Ratchet belts last forever. Doesn't need to be nice leather.

I searched the reviews for the term "stain" "bleed" and "bled" and not a single review complaining about the issue you experienced.

I didn't see any either. I submitted a review, but it has not yet been posted.
