Got this as a gift 2 years ago. It wasn't from costco tho. Mine lasts a very long time. Can still smell on the clothes next day and more. Guess i got lucky.
I bought a tester set from Creed and it came with Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Original Vetiver, and Millesime Imperial. The idea was to buy the winner from Costco.
Aventus, is indeed overhyped. And the fragrance it inspired, Dior Sauvage, does a better job IMO. I ended up going with green irish tweed.

I agree GIT is so much better. Viking is also really good.

Or just buy 6oz of cool water for $40
In this case, it isn't necessarily fake but perhaps not really as good as the full priced stuff.
Notice the many comments from people that the Costco purchased ones didn't seem to have the same lasting power that department store units do.
I will provide another example. The Banana Republic clothes are licensed (real) but not produced by the folks that produce the products for the retailer. In fact nearly all of Costco's clothing items are produced by the same people regardless of the branding on the label.
Does that make them real? No, not really but they aren't real fakes either.
