The PowerHead has two versions, the PH1420 (this) and the older PH1400. I'm certain you've all seen deals on the PH1400 with or without edger. Rarely do you see deals including the PH1420 PowerHead like this.
What's the difference? There are some Multi-Head attachments which are ONLY compatible with the newer PH1420, because while both old & new send rotational movement down the shaft, the newer 1420 also has an electrical connection. This powers LED Lights, PowerLoad, Line IQ, and newer attachment's tech.
Strictly speaking the Edger attachment does NOT benefit from what the 1420 adds, however, if you're going to buy a PowerHead why not buy a more futureproof one?
