I tried t-mob sim but no success, its carrier locked phone. how to get it activated on another carrier?
You have to activate it with the original carrier to start the 60 day unlock clock. With ATT you can do the SIM swap trick to get immediate unlock. Read the instructions from wiki.

Can they create an account and give you a SIM as it should just work when you pop in the SIM.

Possibly if the stars align but many are having problems getting the ATT account/line setup which is needed before you can pay off.

I called Verizon; they said the IMEI is not linked to an account.
What should I do? How do I know if the account was even set up? When I placed my order, it populated a phone number. I didn't write it down and didn't save it. I just signed all the agreements...

You got a free phone, just go to a Verizon store to open a new Verizon post paid account and put the SIM in the phone to activate, come back home and cancel the line. The phone will automatically unlock after 60 days. Do verify with them before one more time that they don't have your info linked with any Verizon account.

you can pay off before the phone arrives but don't cancel the line yet. Follow the steps before cancelling. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, reboot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal. c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of ATT phone and submit an unlock request.DO NOT attempt more than twice or you will be blocked for 24 hours.d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.
I followed the steps and was able to receive and use the unlock code. Thanks for the guidance on this. Some items I noticed/completed:
1) I paid off the phone yesterday while it was in transit. Received today.
2) I inserted SIM into S24 Ultra and made calls / texts. Confirmed on att.com that data use / text / calls were updating with what I was doing on the phone. There was a bit of a delay between making the calls/data use vs. when it showed up.
3) I then swapped the SIM to my unlocked Pixel 9 Pro (P9P) and rebooted. I disabled my eSIM that's on Tmobile just to be safe. Made some calls and texts. Waited about 15 mins and att.com still showed the S24 Ultra. I then downloaded the Myatt app on my P9P and navigated to the Device tab and saw that it did indeed show my P9P and not the Ultra. I thought this step was important if you're just checking the att.com page. Check the app to see if it updates to the new device.
4) I followed through to the unlock site and chose non-ATT, entered the IMEI and just waited for confirmation email. Confirmed and got the unlock code 5 mins later.
Thanks for everyone's help on this! I really appreciate it. Now to cancel the line...

Google my friend. You could have easily googled this in the time you took to make multiple posts: https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy

"Prepaid Device Unlocking Policy

Devices that you purchase from Verizon and certain devices purchased from one of our authorized retailers are locked for 60 days after paid activation. After 60 days of paid active service and ordinary usage, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently. Following the 60 day lock period following device purchase, we do not lock our phones at any time.

If you purchase a 4G Phone-in-a-Box from one of our authorized retailers, you should review the back of the box to determine the lock period applicable to that device."

60 days of PAID ACTIVE SERVICE for prepaid.
I am not sure if this was for me but I think the prepaid devices they are talking here are special ones purchased from Verizon or Walmart which are clearly marked prepaid. In this case you are doing a prepaid line but bringing your own device but you can interpret this the way you did so maybe it won't work with prepaid with just 60 days wait.

I got the phone yesterday i.e. 3rd day, but somehow the phone line does not show up on the Internet AT&T account that I have, I called support to add the phone line to the existing account, but it will take 24 hours. The support guy said he cannot help to pay off the balance as the line is not showing up in the account. is there anyway I can pay off the balance, if the phone line is not showing up in the account?
you got it for free. Just get it unlocked using sim swap

It was not, it was in response to comment 334 from a different user.
