If I'm planning to use this phone on my T-mobile acct, is there any benefit to Verizon over At&t?

I see the Sim swap unlock trick with At&t, is there something similar with Verizon or must I wait the 60 days no matter what?

Is flashing firmware required to use the T-life app? And does either At&t or Verizon version have more/less bloatware?
AT&T can unlock quicker if you do the sim swap. Verizon is 60 days after activation, no sim swap trick with them. Some on Verizon thought they were getting a free phone (I was one of those) but my May 30 delivery finally got caught up and my DPP was linked either today or over the weekend.

I think ATT one is out of stock so your only option is Verizon now.

Out of stock online, maybe. There are physical stores with them in stock.

I finally called ATT to get a live person for more concrete information. I think the rep was working from home and since my question is a billing question, I could hear she chatted with someone behind the scene to get me the information. Here is what I was advised.

1. If the service is canceled within 3 days, no activation fee will show up on the final bill.

2. If the service is canceled after 3 days of activation, there will be a courtesy credit and the credit will be reflected in next bill. If a statement credit is issued to a closed account, a refund check will be mailed to the account holder's address.

However, the rep was unsure whether or not we need to contact ATT for a refund check or if it is going to be an automated process.

I have seen the bill credits come in the next bill but then I did these deals on an existing ATT account so didn't matter if the credit came next bill. In you case, you should talk to another CS and insist on a refund on current bill as you are correctly telling them you won't get a next bill. Mention buyer's remorse etc also. I think you are doing it the right way just need to get someone to do the credit for you. Also, for activation fee it should've been an instant credit, did you click that link and then after logging out and logging back in/incognito mode you don't see $35 credited?

Edit: Also read last few pages of one plus Nord n30 deal I linked in one of the pinned comment.

My order for the ATT has been delayed multiple times by ontrac. I still have not received the phone BUT the phone apparantly was activated the day I purchased on walmart (june 1st). Now it is June 9th and I'm receiving emails about the bill that has been generated and due on June 25th. Anyone can explain what this nonsense all means?

just got off the phone with ATT. They dont know what is going on with the phone so they told me they will cancel everything. Ontrac wasn't helpful at ALL!! so screw them.
I guess this deal was not meant for me. ah well

I am new AT&T customer, and I ordered S24U AT&T on 6/7and looks like it will be delivered today. Can I add a new line for S24 plus on my account and pay it off and get unlocked? Or should I create a new account?
Has anyone tried getting 2 lines from 1 account and paying them off without any issue?
I might have to create an account using my spouse's details

So here is my experience,
  • Ordered S24U on 6/2 fot AT&T. It was shipped via ontrac , ETA was 6/5.
  • Up Until 6/5 EOD, there was no movement on the ontrac site, showed in Fontana CA, I contacted Ontrac and Walmart and both said the package is lost or delayed, on Trac opened a case for me.
  • Phone showed up at my house next day on 6/6
  • There was a physical sim in the phone box which did not activate the phone, there was no esim on it.
  • Up until now I only had an *Estimate* from AT&T for my first bill via an email on 6/2, which does not show a phone number or account number.
  • I contacted AT&T ( in store and via phone) to see if there was any account opened in my name, address or SSN and they could not find anything.
  • I put my existing AT&T sim in the phone and it worked, was also able to just unlock the device normally in my account (no sim swap).

So i guess the million dollar ( or $432) question is, is this a "free" phone or am i going to get a bill from AT&T somehow down the line...
If you are able to unlock the device normally, the at least one part of the ATT backend things you don't owe anything for the device. My bet is you won't get back into DPP, you can also check with various IMEI checkers.

You can upgrade the same line for the s24 plus order after paying off s24u and doing SIM swap etc. If alll goes well you should be done by 14 days of buyer's remorse for cancelling ATT line. Note the activation fee can be voided instantly even after 3 days, see my pinned comment.

I have seen many times and others can verify that the activation fee credit is instant as one time courtesy (even after 3 days) so I am surprised that activation fee is not credited to your account instantly if you had clicked on that link. I can't say about the refund check, it's possible it will arrive but given it's ATT I wouldn't bank on it.

Here's what happened with my recent Verizon phone.
6/1: I bought a Verizon S24 Ultra.
6/6: The phone arrived. I activated the eSIM and calls worked.
6/6: I went to a Verizon store to pay for the phone in cash. The employee told me I couldn't pay off the device for 30 days. She then did something in the Verizon app on my phone, and my calls and messages stopped working right after.
I then deleted the eSIM (this was my mistake).
I thought I had to cancel the line within 3 days to get the activation fee waived. Since I activated it on 6/6, I assumed I had until 6/8.
But I checked the estimated bill and it said the activation date was 6/5. I asked a chat agent, and they also said my number was activated on 6/5.
6/7:
  • 9:30 AM: Chatted with Verizon to restore the eSIM.
  • 11:20 AM: They told me to go to a store with my ID. When I asked to just cancel the line, they said I have to return the phone.
  • 12:00 PM: I went to a different Verizon store. They couldn't activate the eSIM because the phone was locked. They asked where I bought it, and I said Walmart. They told me to go to Walmart to reactivate the esim. I asked if I could pay off my phone there, but they said no.
  • 1:50 PM: I went to Walmart. They couldn't help and said I needed to go to a Verizon corporate store (not a retail one) and ask for a physical SIM.
  • 3:10 PM: I got to the corporate store and waited 50 minutes. They switched my eSIM to a physical SIM.
I asked if I could pay for the device, and they said yes. I paid for it in cash.
The employee then said since my phone was now paid off (BYOD), he could cancel my line and open a new one to change my plan from $75/month to $55/month with a new promotion. He said the activation fee for this would be waived with a credit.
I asked about the bill for the first line. He said it would "probably be waived."
I'm now waiting for that bill of the first line.
