So its better to buy it on June 1 provided the deal is still active.
The fact of the matter is that Costco is actively hostile to those that sign up for Costco memberships from third party membership offers like Groupon. I am stating this based upon my own personal experience and the knowledge of others' experience to those who might sign up for this offer thinking that everything will be "automatic" and won't involve any possible hassle.

Or is this handled by canceling your membership and then renewing it when you're ready to resume shopping there?
If the latter, do you get a full or prorated refund, and if you do this more than once, do they frown on it?

It used to be that you saved money by buying bulk, not so much anymore.
Not a big deal since I'm not a Costco shopper. I was just looking for a specific item at the time. I won't be a Costco member ever again. I'm just a big fan of BJ's
