So its better to buy it on June 1 provided the deal is still active.
The fact of the matter is that Costco is actively hostile to those that sign up for Costco memberships from third party membership offers like Groupon. I am stating this based upon my own personal experience and the knowledge of others' experience to those who might sign up for this offer thinking that everything will be "automatic" and won't involve any possible hassle.

Also the support says contact Costco customer service, not Groupon for help, is this right?
Your Costco Shop Card should be on its way to you - you don't need to do anything further! The Costco Shop Card will be delivered via email within 2 weeks after sign-up to qualifying members.
