A TV upgrade would be much more beneficial. Save this money and put it towards an OLED. That will be an absolute game changer for you. The PS5 Pro is such a small upgrade. I say that as a huge PS5 fan, who really wanted a Pro, until I saw it in action. I can't justify spending hundreds more for a little better version of something I'm already very happy with.
Have base PS5 and recently got the Pro bc I needed a 2nd console and it fit my budget, so made sense to just go w/ the latest gen. It's not worth the upgrade if you already got PS5, the Pro basically delivers base PS5 Quality Mode-level graphics in Performance Mode. It's also borderline unconscionable for Sony to use same CPU in the Pro as the 5yr old base PS5.
6 years into the lifecycle of the PS5, new games are still being released with PS4 versions. I'm not a game developer by any means but I would think if you design a game with old hardware in mind, it would be hard to really get all you can out of the "new" hardware.
Why would you need a drive? There's no data on the disc, if they shut the game down, the disc won't work anyway. Used prices are the only case to be made. My point is, it's a waste of money, last 3 ps console I've never put a disc in. PS4, ps4pro, ps5. Not to mention disc take up an enormous amount of space.
People like to buy disc based consoles because typically it's cheaper to buy the disc vs buying digital.
Case in point, College Football 25 has been available for $10 for months now in disc form.
Same game in digital is still $70 on the PS store.
THAT is why people like having disc based consoles.

This was an issue with the PS4/Pro and VR games specifically. There was a requirement that any features to the game must be available to all users, so they had to cater to the lowest hardware and were unable to make gameplay modes specific to the Pro. This means that a Pro version could have a higher resolution or frame rate but would be limited to the same gameplay that the base console could run. I remember this being very frustrating back then, and for these newer games also being developed for PS4 we probably won't see much more than a higher resolution/textures/frame rate which is a bummer.

I bought one shortly after launch and regret it. I have both the PS5 slim and this, and the difference is super minimal. The only benefit that I enjoy is improved vr experience of gran turismo 7. No exclusive games, only minor and almost unnoticeable fidelity improvements. Sony really didn't put any effort into this at all.
Bought a Slim w/ Disk drive Astro bot bundle for $450 a month ago and am pretty happy with it. Most places were already sold out, but Walmart still had some.

Not PS5 Pro. Game developers have optimizations specifically for PS5 Pro. Games optimized for PS5 Pro like Monster Hunter Wilds run at much better frame rate and graphical fidelity.

Game developers can optimize for PS5 pro, but the norm seems to be developing for PS5 (and sometimes PS4) and then optimizing/enhancing those versions rather than developing for PS5 Pro and then scaling back to run on PS5/4.
The PS5 pro will absolutely run better, or at least it can run better, no question there.. but it does have stuff holding it back from doing a lot more.
It's one of the issues I felt that an Xbox Series S was a bad idea.. I do wish they'd stop with building multi-generation versions of games (PS4+PS5, with pro optimizations) and focus more on the PS5/pro and taking more advantage of the PS5 pro rather than just saying "we can run it in higher res or get more fps out of it"

If you have a 120hz TV with VRR and all that jazz, this is definitely a worthy upgrade to get the smoothness of performance mode with the raytracing and resolution of quality mode. Ive had mine for a few weeks now and I see a pretty big difference. I only paid 450 for mine though from Facebook marketplace so I may be a little bias there. But after spending weeks with the pro I would totally trade or sell my base PS5 to obtain the pro as I feel it's enough of an upgrade.
And while things look great on the base PS5, once you have played on the pro you really see the difference going back to the base model. Days Gone Remaster, Horizon FW, Spider Man 2, God of war are all particularly enhanced by the pro. I've checked out a few others but played those the most on the pro. It's not like next gen upgrade, but it's pretty significant! If youre on the fence and have a TV that can handle it, trade in that base PS5 and put towards a pro! You won't regret it ✌️ I'm betting we will see more improvement over the next couple of years as well with more games having bigger advantages over the base model.

They can be had fairly easily now though at or below MSRP after the scalping fiasco last year, but you will be adding $70-$90 on top of this price.

Get a PC with 5070 TI or better for a noticeable/substantial upgrade from PS5.

I put my launch PS5 in my living room where I have the 65 inch version of my bedroom TV and kept the pro for my bedroom. (TCL QM7 https://www.walmart.com/ip/537384...2aa845
